Sony NSZ-GT1 Blu-ray Player with Google TV

S194-0522-07There are a lot of reviews out there for this device.  There are as many types of devices that will do what the NSZ-GT1 can do, so do your homework before you finally decide on an internet television device.  A lot of people have asked me about this item when they seen it in my home.  I am more than happy to explain since it is one of my most cherished additions to my home.  However, upon just my initial sentence amazement kicks in that a lot of folks out there do not even know about internet television.

A device that has Netflix is a small example of internet television, but there is so much better out there.  This device is a Google powered box of usefulness for your television.  I have had mine for a little over a year now and still love it as much as the first day that I purchased it.  At the time that I bought mine most of the internet tv devices available were just streaming devices.  The difference between internet streaming and internet tv is a fairly simple concept.

An internet streaming device is usually limited to music and a few apps for video such as Netflix, Hulu, etc.  An internet tv device does that and more.  I chose the Sony NSZ-GT1 for two reasons.  It has a Blu-ray player and the remote control is the first of its kind.  It can be hardwired or wirelessly connected to the internet.  Since it is Google powered it has a fully functional Chrome internet browser.  You can check your bank account balance on this bad boy online, from your couch.  It has all the popular apps such as Netflix.  Ever watch HBO GO on your phone or tablet?  Try it on this and you will be in heaven.

The universal remote has a full keyboard on it for easily typing in web addresses and searching on your favorite search engine.  The top right has a thumb mouse.  You place your thumb on it and slightly move in order to control the software’s computer like mouse, pressing down is equivalent of a left click.  Just like everything though it is not perfect.  A few downsides are the remote does not light up, so you will need lighting to see the buttons.  This device does not support Hulu at the moment either.  For some reason I have to turn on my entertainment center receiver before turning on the NSZ-GT1 device otherwise the picture is all garbled.  I considered this a downside, because I did not catch on at first and it drove me crazy.  Other than that this is a solid product and I do not regret the purchase at tall.  As I said at the beginning.  The Sony NSZ-GT1 is one of my most cherished possessions.
